updated 21.10.2026

Olympic Development Project 2026–2029 Started in May 2026 at Vierumäki!

The second seminar period will be held 17–21 May 2027 at Vierumäki.

The aim of the project is to support the long-term development of European skaters and coaches towards international excellence and the 2030 Winter Olympic Games. During the first year, the project includes Singles Skating and Ice Dance. For the second year of the project, Pair Skating will be added as a discipline, and a dedicated education programme for judges will also be introduced.

The goal is to organize a seminar every spring through 2029. Participants in each seminar will be given priority registration for the following year’s event. Participants are encouraged to complete the entire seminar series, although this is not mandatory.

The event is organized by Skating Finland and hosted at the Finnish Sports Institute, Vierumäki.

The Olympic Development Project (ODP) offers coaches and skaters an opportunity to develop their expertise according to Olympic-level requirements, strengthen cooperation across disciplines, and support athletes in their transition from junior to senior level. All seminars will be conducted in English.

Skating Finland invites European ISU Member Federations to participate. Member Federations are responsible for selecting and nominating participants according to the established criteria, while Skating Finland will make the final selection of seminar participants from the applicants.

Skaters are expected to demonstrate potential for participation in the 2030 Winter Olympic Games.

The seminar includes on‑ice and off‑ice training, physical testing, lectures, and discussion sessions.
